I. Personal information

Ling Qin, native of Hebei Province, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor.

Graduated from Horticulture Major, Hebei Agricultural University in 1984.Completed postgraduate study at Beijing University of Agriculture in 1987 and obtained Master of Agriculture degree from Hebei Agricultural University.Received Doctor of Agriculture degree in Pomology from College of Plant Science and Technology, China Agricultural University in 2001.Currently serves as Dean of College of Plant Science and Technology, Beijing University of Agriculture.Vice Chairman of Dried Fruit Branch, Chinese Horticultural Society; Vice Chairman of Beijing Fruit Tree Society; Director of Non-timber Forest Branch, Chinese Forestry Society.

II. Research interests

Innovation and utilization of chestnut germplasm resources; evaluation and utilization of Castanea plant resources; chestnut genomics and transcriptomics; molecular assisted breeding; chestnut germplasm creation.

III. Research Projects

Presided over and completed 3 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China.Presided over the ongoing National Natural Science Foundation project "Molecular Mechanism of Receptor-like Protein Kinase Containing MALECTIN Domain Regulating Starch Accumulation in Chestnut" (2018-2021).Presided over the National Key R&D Program project "Regulation of Yield and Quality Trait Formation in Chestnut" (2018-2022).Presided over 3 phases of international cooperation projects.

IV. Major Achievements

1. Completed the whole genome sequencing of Chinese chestnut, and constructed a high-density genetic map based on SNP markers.

2. Established chestnut somatic embryo regeneration system and transgenic genetic transformation system, and obtained transgenic plants.

3. Bred new varieties including bud mutant variety 'Duanhua Yunfeng' and extremely early-maturing northern variety 'Jingsuhong', which have been popularized and applied in Yanshan chestnut producing areas.

4. Hosted the 4th International Chestnut Symposium of International Society for Horticultural Science (Beijing, 2008), and edited Acta Horticulturae Volume 844.

5. Undertaken courses such as Horticultural Plant Breeding and Horticultural Plant Germplasm Resources.

6. Chief-editor of Horticultural Plant Germplasm Resources published by China Agriculture Press.

7. Published more than 50 academic papers and 6 monographs, and authorized 8 patents.

8. Won 8 awards including Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award and Beijing Agricultural Technology Extension Award.

9. Won the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award.
