SRUC Delegation Visits BUA

On January 26, a delegation headed by Wayne Powell, Chief Executive Officer of Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), paid a visit to BUA. BUA‘s President Duan Liusheng and Vice President Wu Yan attended the meeting.

Duan Liusheng extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation, and spoke highly of SRUC, a world-renowned agricultural education and research institution, for its profound accomplishments in driving sustainable agriculture and rural development. He introduced to the delegation the progress BUA has made in discipline development, scientific and technological innovation, and talent cultivation. He said that in recent years, BUA has been deeply engaged in urban modern agriculture, achieving fruitful outcomes in animal and plant science, smart agriculture and ecological protection, among other areas. He noted that BUA highly aligns with SRUC in many disciplines and majors, which indicates a huge potential for cooperation between the two sides in agricultural science and technology as well as talent cultivation. He expressed hope that this visit will serve as a catalyst to drive substantive progress in bilateral cooperation on education, research, and teacher and student exchanges, and that both institutions will jointly contribute to the advancement of agricultural science and technology and the cultivation of high-caliber talents in the two countries.

Professor Wayne Powell expressed thanks for the warm reception from BUA and sang high praise for the achievements BUA has made in serving the development of urban modern agriculture. He gave a detailed introduction of SRUC's history, disciplines and international cooperation outcomes. He said that SRUC has been committed to innovative research and international exchanges in the agricultural field, and maintained sound cooperation with many agricultural universities in China. He looked forward to fostering a friendly partnership between the two sides, and to further deepening bilateral collaboration on student cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, among others, so as to jointly contribute expertise to global sustainable agriculture.

Wang Xiaoyu, Director of the China Center of the Royal Agricultural University of the UK, elaborated on the implementation of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. The two sides held in-depth discussions on core issues including how to deepen academic exchanges, collaborative scientific and technological innovation, joint talent cultivation, and cooperative education.

The delegation visited the National University Science Park, the intelligent multi-span greenhouse and the animal hospital, gaining further understanding of BUA's practical achievements in scientific and technological innovation, commercialization of research outcomes, and characteristic talent cultivation.

Persons in charge of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and relevant affiliated colleges of BUA participated in the activities.
