On March 26, 2026, a six-member delegation from the Riverside Community College District of the US, consisting of Professor Star Rivera-Lacey, Deputy Chancellor, Dr. Zhai Lijuan, Associate Vice Chancellor of Educational Services and Institutional Effectiveness, and Dr. Jeff Rhyne, English professor and international education coordinator, among others, visited BUA for exchanges. Professor Cao Zhijun, Vice President of BUA, and Professor Shang Qiaoxia, Dean of the College of Bioscience and Resources Environment, attended the meeting, along with Huo Chunyan, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and Xue Feiyan, Vice Dean of the College of Bioscience and Resources Environment. Also present were Yu Baoyi, Foreign Affairs Secretary of BUA, as well as liaison persons for foreign affairs Yi Zhaohong, Gao Tantan, Zhang Renke and Zhang Liyun. Both sides held in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, academic exchanges, discipline development and other topics to explore new pathways for bilateral cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Huo Chunyan.
On behalf of BUA, Cao Zhijun extended a warm welcome to the US delegation. He briefed the visitors on BUA's history, disciplinary strengths, talent cultivation and achievements in international exchange and cooperation. He emphasized that BUA highly values international education and expressed hope that BUA and Riverside Community College District will establish a stable and long-term cooperation mechanism, to carry out practical cooperation in areas such as agricultural biology and resources & environment for win-win outcomes. Deputy Chancellor Star Rivera-Lacey provided a detailed introduction to Riverside Community College District's educational scale, academic programs, international education initiatives and industry-university collaborative education model. She shared the experience and practice of Riverside Community College District in talent cultivation, curriculum development and faculty & student exchanges, and expressed strong willingness to conduct in-depth cooperation with BUA. Subsequently, Professor Shang Qiaoxia outlined the disciplinary layout, research platforms, faculty strength and talent cultivation features of the College of Bioscience and Resources Environment, laying a foundation for targeted cooperation between the two sides.
During the discussion, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on faculty and student visits, short-term exchanges and joint education programs, etc., and reached preliminary consensus on advancing the implementation of cooperation. The participants engaged in active exchanges and candid communication amid a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

After the meeting, accompanied by relevant persons in charge, the US delegation visited BUA's laboratories, campus, student dormitories, dining halls and greenhouses, gaining firsthand understanding of BUA's educational conditions, commercialization of research outcomes and campus culture. They spoke highly of BUA's distinctive agricultural characteristics, sound education environment and open educational philosophy.
The visit by the delegation from Riverside Community College District represents a major step for BUA to advance international education and expand overseas cooperation network. Going forward, BUA will leverage this opportunity to deepen all-round cooperation with Riverside Community College District, integrate high-quality educational resources, and create innovative cooperation models, so as to take international exchange and cooperation to new levels, and contribute to the cultivation of high-quality application-oriented agricultural talents with a global vision and the modernization of agriculture.
