Man Shen, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Master’s Supervisor.
Graduated from Landscape Architecture Major, Jinling Institute of Technology in 1989.Worked at Nanjing Landscape Planning and Design Institute from 1989 to 1992.Studied in continuous master-doctor program of Forest Genetics and Breeding in Nanjing Forestry University from 1992 to 1997, and obtained Doctor of Agriculture degree.Conducted postdoctoral research on ornamental plants and horticulture in the Postdoctoral Research Station of Forestry, Beijing Forestry University from 1997.
Taught at Beijing University of Agriculture since 1999.Conducted research as a visiting scholar in Flower Breeding Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, University of Minnesota, USA from 2012 to 2013.Served as Director of Teaching and Research Sections including Horticultural Cultivation and Ecological Environment, Horticultural Cultivation and Horticultural Breeding from 2002 to 2011.
II. Research interests
Research on landscape and ornamental horticulture, plant stress physiology and biochemistry, stress-resistant variety screening and breeding.
III. Research Projects
Presided over and completed a number of projects including Beijing Science and Technology New Star Project of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, General Project of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and Key Joint Funding Project of Beijing Natural Science Foundation and Beijing Municipal Commission of Education.
Participated in multiple projects supported by Beijing Natural Science Foundation, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, Beijing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture.
IV. Major Achievements
1. Published more than 20 academic papers and 2 monographs.
2. Chief-edited 2 textbooks and participated in compiling 8 national general textbooks for agricultural and forestry colleges as well as the 11th and 12th Five-Year Plan textbooks.
3. Won the Third Prize in Science and Engineering Group of the 4th Beijing Young Teachers' Basic Teaching Skills Competition in 2004.
4. Two teaching reform projects won the University-level Second Prize in 2009.
