To ensure the healthy and safe production of Beijing's urban agriculture and forestry industry, the team carries out survey and monitoring of urban agroforestry pests by comprehensively utilizing multidisciplinary technologies such as genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, insect behaviour, electrophysiology, and analytical chemistry. It aims to investigate the occurrence patterns and occurrence regularity of major agroforestry pests (aphids, thrips, Conogethes punctiferalis, Tuta absoluta, Fall armyworm, and longicorn, etc.), and establish a monitoring and early warning model based on the coupled relationship between pest occurrence patterns and the phenological periods of agroforestry plants; reveal the multi-trophic interactions of major agroforestry pests, host plants, natural enemies and microorganisms, as well as their strong adaptations and disaster-causing mechanisms; analyze natural plant-derived insect resistance mechanisms, identify and screen chemical information substances with luring and repelling effects on major agroforestry pests, and establish physical and chemical luring and controlling technologies based on the "push-pull" strategy and the RNAi technology system of nano-materials delivery system, realizing the sustainable green control of urban agroforestry pests.
Team members have visited internationally renowned universities and research institutes such as the University of Alberta in Canada and the Natural History Museum in the UK for exchanges.
In the past 5 years, team members have published more than 30 SCI papers as first or corresponding authors in Entomol Gen, J Agric Food Chem, J Pest Sci, Pest Manag Sci, Insect Sci, and iScience.
