Beijing Rural Landscape Planning and Design Engineering Technology Research Center is a provincial and ministerial-level scientific research institution recognized by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission in 2013. The center relies on the Landscape Gardening and Forestry disciplines at Beijing University of Agriculture and collaborates with Beijing Century Licheng Landscape Greening Engineering Co., Ltd. to establish a comprehensive research platform that integrates the theory and practice of rural landscape planning and design, the cultivation of new landscape plant varieties, and the research on landscape engineering technologies. The platform primarily focuses on three research areas: rural landscape and recreation planning and design, urban-rural landscape engineering, and landscape plants and ecology.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the engineering center has conducted a series of studies focusing on urban-rural integration, leisure agriculture, rural landscape theory, and the cultivation of new varieties of landscape plants. These studies integrate landscape with industries, ecology, tourism, and new construction technologies. Among these, landscape planning and design based on the discipline of landscape gardening is the distinctive feature and advantage of the laboratory. In practice, a large amount of urban and rural landscape design has been carried out. The engineering center led or participated as a key unit in completing the "12th Five-Year Plan for National Leisure Agriculture Development" and the "12th Five-Year Plan for Urban Modern Agriculture Service System Construction in Beijing". It also completed the "Changping 12th Five-Year Plan for Urban-Rural Economic Integration Development" and "Shunyi District Urban Agriculture Development Plan", providing theoretical support for government decision-making. The center has published 51 works, including "Tourism Agriculture Planning and Design" and "Rural Landscape Planning and Design", and nearly 106 papers, including "The Application of GIS in Rural Landscape Planning and Protection". Innovations in planning and design concepts and technologies have been explored in these works. The center applied new technologies such as BIM and GIS to complete 92 rural landscape or industrial plans, including the "Landscape and Industrial Development Plan for Xitaiping Village, Beishimen Village and Qiantougang Village in Shidu Town, Fangshan District, Beijing" and the "Conceptual Plan for the Sijihuahai Rainbow Valley Flower Science and Technology Park in Beijing". It implemented 42 high-quality rural landscape projects, including "Badaling Peacock City Beautiful Rural Landscape Greening Project" and "Plain Afforestation Project in Renhe Section, Shunyi District".

In addition, significant achievements have been made in plant-related research within the field of forestry, which also has its own distinctive characteristics. The center has obtained 52 patents and software copyrights, including "A Kind of Cement Container for Large Seedling Transplanting" and "Rural Tourism Room Management System". In particular, 16 new varieties of landscape plants were obtained in the cultivation of lilies, salvia splendens, ornamental crabapples and so on.
