The Beijing Key Laboratory of Dairy Cattle Nutrition is a provincial and ministerial-level key laboratory jointly established by Beijing University of Agriculture and the Institute of Feed Research of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Recognized by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, it integrates dairy cattle feed resource development, nutritional immunity, gastrointestinal physiology and molecular nutrition.

The laboratory currently has 35 research staff members. The laboratory has approximately 2,000 square meters of research area and equipment valued at RMB 23 million. The main laboratory features a 300-square-meter modern small animal testing center and a 1,000-square-meter testing base at the Sunlon Livestock Yanqing Base.

The laboratory collaborates with the Institute of Animal Sciences of CAAS, Beijing Animal Husbandry Station, and Sunlon Livestock Dairy Cattle Center to jointly establish the "Beijing Dairy Cattle Nutrition Regulation and Environmental Control Collaborative Innovation Center" and the "China Feed Database Intelligence Network Center Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Regional Data Collection Center". The laboratory has established the "Sino-US Joint Research Center for Ruminant and Neonatal Animal Nutrition and Metabolism" in collaboration with Penn State University. It also maintains close partnerships with renowned institutions at home and abroad, such as the LETHER UDGE Research Center of the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and the HILLSBOROUGH Agricultural Research Institute of the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute.

The laboratory focuses on plant extracts and compound microbial preparations. It systematically studies the effects of plant extracts on rumen fermentation regulation and methane reduction. Based on this research, it combines selected plant extracts with compound microbial preparations specially developed for dairy cattle farming. The application effectiveness of the compound nutritional and immunological products combining compound microbial preparations and plant extracts is evaluated in terms of dairy cattle production performance, milk quality, immune indices, feed conversion rates, fecal microbiota, and mastitis incidence. The application is promoted in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
