BUA Hosted the Workshop on TTF Model for Poverty Alleviation Activity of China-UNDP Cooperation Project

From August 12 to 13, the Workshop on TTF Model for Poverty Alleviation Activity of China-UNDP Cooperation Project, co-organized by the UNDP TTF Model for Poverty Alleviation Activity Office, Fujian Science, Technology and Culture Innovation Association, andBeijing University of Agriculture, was held in Wuyishan City, Fujian Province. Duan Liusheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BUA, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. About 160 representatives from 13 countries including China, Iraq, Afghanistan, Armenia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Jordan, Nepal and Nigeria attended the conference online or offline.

Duan Liusheng, with the topic of "Experiences and Inspirations of Beijing University of Agriculture Technical Task Forces in Empowering Rural Revitalization", introduced the main models and cases of the school's Technical Task Forces on empowering rural revitalization. Duan's report focused on many action plans - the ST Courtyard integrates education, innovation, and promotion of knowledge; the Professor Workstation promotes industrial upgrading in multiple disciplines; the 'Doctor Farm' builds a big stage for agricultural entrepreneurship; the Industrial Research Institute grafts characteristic industries at a high level; the University ST Park creates an innovation and entrepreneurship service scene for Technical Task Forces; the ST Appointment program promotes professional talents to serve the front line of rural revitalization; and the Rural Revitalization Platform and the Social Practice Classroom interact collaboratively. He proposed to establish a two-way mechanism to facilitate flow of rural knowledge and knowledge of scientific research institutes, develop an incentive policy for Technical Task Forces to serve the countryside, assist Technical Task Forces in solving the problem of information asymmetry in services, and better leverage the unique advantages of female Technical Task Forces.

The experts at the meeting introduced China's effective practices and successful experiences in poverty alleviation from different dimensions, including the inspiration of China's poverty reduction experience for developing countries, new forms and practices of ST Courtyard, practical cases of poverty reduction by Technical Task Forces, and the evolution and innovative practices of China's TTF model.

Professor Gou Tianlai from the College of Humanities and Urban-Rural Development hosted the roundtable exchange session. Award-winning representatives of "Fujian's Best Technical Task Forces" and international representatives shared their practical experiences and insights on how Technical Task Forces empowered rural revitalization, facilitated commercializing scientific and technological achievements, and promote poverty alleviation through institutional and mechanism innovation. The attendants also visited and studied the rice and tea demonstration sites of the TTF Model for Poverty Alleviation Activity of China-UNDP Cooperation Project.

It is reported that theTTF model started in Nanping, Fujian in 1999. Over the past 25 years, the model has played a very important role in promoting reform and development, revitalizing the rural economy, improving farmers' living standards, and achieving poverty alleviation in China. It has accumulated rich experience and received widespread attention from the international community. The TTF Model for Poverty Reduction Activity is an important part of the cooperative project "Establishing a Global Poverty Reduction and Rural Development Partnership to Promote Poverty Eradication Projects on a Global Scale" launched by United Nations Development Programme, International Poverty Reduction Center in China and China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges. It aims to summarize and sort out the common characteristics and practical experiences of the TTF Model which can be shared with other developing countries, carry out specific work such as developing a training curriculum system and teaching materials forTechnical Task Forces, and study successful cases. It will conduct international exchanges through the United Nations Development Programme's global platform to help other developing countries in the world in their poverty reduction efforts.

BUA will continue to thoroughly study and carry on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on theTTF model, fully implement the spirit of the Fourth Party Congress of BUA, accelerate the implementation of the “Innovation Driven Project”, vigorously carry out the “Academic Exchange and Enlightenment Action”. It willfocus on the development needs of the “Three Rural Issues”, solidly perform the work ofTechnical Task Force, and actively participate in comprehensively promoting rural revitalization andspeedingupthe construction of a country with strong agriculture by “BUA Wisdom” and “BUA Plan”.
