BUA Hosted the "Beijing, the Garden in My Heart" Science Popularization Competition

On July 26, the final of the "Beijing, the Garden in My Heart" Science Popularization Competition was held in the library auditorium, BUA. The event was hosted by BUA, and co-organized by Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau, Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Working Committee for Caring for the Next Generation and Beijing Federation of Trade Unions. Zhang Deqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the BUA Party Committee, Vice President, and member of the Organizing Committee of the competition, attended the event.

After fierce competition, many teachers and students from the School of Landscape Architecture won awards. Among them, Associate Professor Feng Li won the Third Prize in the non-full-time group, Li Yuehua won the Best Topic Award and the Best Participation Award, retired teacher Chen Zhihuan won the Best Participation Award, and student Zhang Huiying entered the semi-finals. Our teachers and students demonstrated high professionalism in the competition and made positive contributions to promoting gardening science and cultural knowledge to the public and building Beijing into a garden city.

It is reported that the highlight of this competition is social participation. In the form of science popularization, a platform for broad participation from the whole society is built to fully mobilize the capital's citizens to pay attention to and participate in the initiative of building Beijing into a garden city. The contestants include not only professionals in the landscaping industry but also non-professional nature enthusiasts. The youngest participant is 7 years old and the oldest is 79 years old. They come from scientific research institutions, public institutions, enterprises, primary and secondary schools, communities and social groups, and their lectures cover a wide range of fields from architecture, information, management to plants and animals. The competition awarded first, second, third prizes and excellent prizes for the full-time and non-full-time groups, as well as the Best Participation Award, the Most Potential Award, the Best Topic Award and the Excellent Organization Award. Seven contestants were awarded the title of "Beijing Ecological Culture Ambassador".

BUA attaches great importance to this event and organizes dozens of teachers and students to participate in volunteer service support work for the competition, to ensure the competition is successful and exciting. BUA will continue to study and implement President Xi Jinping's thoughts on ecological civilization, guide teachers and students to have a better understanding of the concepts, ideas and plans for Beijing's garden city construction, and strengthen their determination to contribute to the construction of the garden city. We will actively engage in building Beijing a garden city and promoting high-quality development in Beijing with "BUA wisdom" and "BUA strength".
