A team of students from the College of Intelligent Science and Engineering at Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) won First Prize in the Restaurant 3D Cleaning competition, part of the Intelligent Cleaning Robot Challenge at the China Robot Competition (RoboCup China Open 2026), held recently in Beijing.

The BUA team, known as BUA Intelligent Team 1, competed in the special event division, which featured tasks such as autonomous waste identification, precision grasping, and waste sorting and disposal. The competition tested participants' practical skills in robotic vision, path planning, mechanical control, and related fields. The team consisted of five students from the College of Intelligent Science and Engineering, i.e., Li Jiahui, Gong Xinru, Wang Hongtu, Liang Ziyin, and Zhou Zisen, with Qiu Quan and Fan Zhengqiang serving as faculty advisors.
Throughout the competition, the team worked through each stage in a coordinated and methodical manner, completing tasks involving autonomous navigation, target recognition, material grasping, and classified disposal. They completed all the required tasks in 2 minutes and 12.36 seconds, demonstrating strong professional knowledge and engineering skills. Organized by the Chinese Association of Automation with support from the RoboCup China Committee, the RoboCup China Open is a major national competition in robotics. Its events cover a range of areas, including robot soccer, advanced vision, automated sorting, service robots, medical robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The competition brings together university teams from across China and provides students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience and exchange ideas in robotics. Throughout the competition, the team worked through each stage in a coordinated and methodical manner, completing tasks involving autonomous navigation, target recognition, material grasping, and classified disposal. They completed all the required tasks in 2 minutes and 12.36 seconds, demonstrating strong professional knowledge and engineering skills.


The award highlights BUA's efforts to strengthen practice-based education and develop students' engineering skills. Going forward, the University will continue to follow the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as national and Beijing municipal education conferences. It will further promote the integration of learning, teaching, and innovation through competitions and encourage students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world problems. Through these efforts, BUA aims to prepare a new generation of graduates with solid academic foundations, strong professional skills, and a spirit of innovation, as well as a commitment to agriculture and rural development, while contributing their knowledge and expertise to Beijing's economic and social development.
