Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) celebrated the 42nd Teachers' Day on the afternoon of September 9, bringing together faculty and staff members and student representatives to honor educators and celebrate the contributions of teachers across the university.

Zhao Feng, Secretary of the CPC Committee of BUA, extended Teachers' Day greetings and best wishes to faculty and staff on behalf of the university's CPC Committee. He also congratulated the outstanding teams and individuals recognized at the celebration, expressed his sincere appreciation and respect to retired faculty and staff who had dedicated 30 years or more to education, and welcomed the university's newly appointed teachers.

In his remarks, Zhao Feng highlighted BUA's continued efforts to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, as well as General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statements on education and on work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers. BUA has also thoroughly implemented the guiding principles of national and Beijing municipal education conferences, while making faculty development a fundamental priority in the university's development and governance. Over the past several years, BUA has deepened reform of its personnel system, strengthened efforts to attract and develop high-level talent, and established long-term mechanisms to promote professional ethics among teachers. These efforts are designed to build a highly qualified and professional faculty and provide a strong foundation for the university's high-quality development. Zhao Feng called on BUA teachers to remain committed to the mission of educating for the Party and nurturing talent for the country. He encouraged them to keep the nation's broader interests in mind, make fostering virtue through education central to their work, and embrace their responsibility to strengthen agriculture and advance agricultural development. He also urged teachers to connect their personal aspirations with the broader goal of building a strong country, uphold high standards of professional ethics, pursue scholarship with integrity, and lead by example in educating students. Teachers, he noted, should serve as mentors not only in students' academic studies and professional development, but also in their personal growth. Furthermore, they should continue to strengthen their teaching and mentoring capabilities, learn from one another through teaching and research, and foster closer connections between research and teaching. By responding to the needs of Beijing through their research and translating research findings into practical benefits for farmers, they can make greater contributions to society while supporting students as they pursue their own paths of growth and development. Looking to the future, Zhao encouraged faculty members to embrace their responsibilities in the new era and continue striving for innovation and excellence. As BUA approaches its 70th anniversary, the university will remain focused on the strategic goals set out in its 15th Five-Year Plan and work with renewed ambition and a pragmatic approach to build a domestically first-class and internationally recognized application-oriented university distinguished by excellence in urban agriculture and forestry. Through these efforts, BUA will contribute to building China into a leading country in education and agriculture.

Zhao Feng presented commemorative certificates and medals to teachers who have devoted 30 years to education.

The celebration also included a retirement ceremony honoring faculty members concluding their careers at BUA. Faculty and students watched a video titled Memories of Time, after which Lu Lei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of BUA, presented commemorative seals to the retiring teachers.

The university also recognized outstanding teams and teachers for their achievements in scientific research and innovation, Party building and administration, teaching and education, and other areas. Wu Yan, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of BUA and Vice President; Wu Junchu, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection; and Cao Zhijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President, presented awards to representatives of the honorees.

A special induction ceremony was held for newly appointed teachers. Their mentors presented them with BUA badges and copies of The Spirit of Educators: Echoes of Great Minds in Our Time, while the new teachers presented flowers to their mentors as a gesture of appreciation.

Faculty members representing different generations of BUA educators then came together to recite the poem Seven Decades of Excellence: My Commitment to Strengthening Agriculture. The performance reflected on BUA's 70-year journey of perseverance, progress and development, and paid tribute to generations of educators who have remained true to their original aspirations and dedicated themselves to teaching. It also highlighted their contributions to the university's reform and development, while expressing the BUA community's determination and confidence to welcome the university's 70th anniversary with outstanding achievements and open a new chapter in higher agricultural and forestry education.

The BUA Student Arts Troupe brought the celebration to a close with Spring Rain, the theme song released by the Ministry of Education for the 42nd Teachers' Day. Through music, the performance paid tribute to teachers who quietly dedicate themselves to education with commitment and selflessness, while expressing the university's heartfelt appreciation and admiration for educators.
