Seventy years of dedication have shaped a remarkable legacy. Guided by an enduring commitment to strengthening agriculture and serving the nation, Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) will celebrate its 70th anniversary in October 2026. From its founding in 1956 to its ongoing pursuit of becoming a domestically first-class and internationally recognized application-oriented university distinguished by excellence in urban agriculture and forestry, BUA has spent seven decades building on its traditions, advancing innovation, and nurturing generations of talented graduates. Guided by its motto of "Virtue, Action, Knowledge and Enthusiasm," the University continues to write a new chapter in serving national agricultural development. Following an open call for submissions, expert review, and extensive consultation, BUA is proud to officially unveil the 70th Anniversary Logo and Anniversary Mascots.

70th Anniversary Logo

Design Concept

The anniversary logo is centered on the number "70," integrating iconic elements of the University, including the main gate, the teaching building, and the popular "BUA" lawn landmark. It also incorporates symbolic images closely associated with the University and its achievements, such as wheat, maize, soybeans, Chinese flowering crabapple, ginkgo leaves, and guide dogs, creating a visual narrative that reflects the shared memories and identity of the BUA community. The numeral "7" is designed to resemble a flag flying proudly in the wind, symbolizing the University's commitment to advancing high-quality development under the strong leadership of Party building while remaining true to its mission of cultivating talent for the Party and the nation. The "0" seamlessly combines the University's architectural landmarks with representative academic and research achievements, embodying BUA's commitment to fostering virtue through education and fulfilling its mission of strengthening agriculture through science, education, and innovation. Together, the design reflects the University's determination to answer the defining question of the new era: What role can BUA play in building a stronger nation? Blending the University's rich heritage, distinctive educational identity, and enduring values, the logo pays tribute to seven decades of achievement while expressing the confidence and determination of the entire BUA community to continue contributing to agricultural modernization and national development.

The anniversary mascots, Xiaobei and Xiaonong, embody the spirit of the BUA community that is deeply rooted in the land while striving towards growth and excellence. Presented as anthropomorphic agricultural crops, they reflect the University's motto of "Virtue, Action, Knowledge and Enthusiasm," and symbolize its commitment to nurturing a new generation of professionals devoted to agriculture while empowering rural revitalization through scientific and technological innovation.

Xiaobei, inspired by an ear of maize, represents the silage maize varieties developed by BUA and serves as a symbol of the University's scientific and technological achievements. Dressed in green and bearing abundant golden kernels, he conveys vitality, prosperity, and a spirit of harvest. Holding a flag bearing the University's 70th anniversary logo, Xiaobei embodies the confidence, optimism, and pioneering spirit of the BUA community.

Xiaonong, modeled on a golden wheat ear, pays tribute to "Beinong No. 1," a wheat variety developed by the University, while also reflecting the wheat motif featured in the University's official emblem. Wearing a bright red dress that symbolizes unwavering dedication and passion for advancing agriculture, she holds a green book representing knowledge and learning. Her bright, intelligent expression captures the diligence, curiosity, and enterprising spirit that define BUA students and graduates.

Seventy years mark not only a proud milestone but also the beginning of a new journey. This autumn, as golden October arrives, BUA warmly welcomes its alumni, friends, and partners from near and far.
