Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) hosted the Forum on High-Quality Development of International Talent Education on October 17, bringing together representatives from 10 partner universities and research institutions across nine countries. The forum focused on international talent development at agricultural and forestry universities, with participants exploring new approaches to international cooperation in higher education.

Duan Liusheng, president of BUA, welcomed the Chinese and international guests and thanked the universities and research institutions that had sent congratulatory messages. He reviewed the university's efforts to expand international engagement since 2003 and highlighted the progress made under the BUA Global Strategic Partnership Program. To date, BUA has established partnerships with 75 universities and institutions in 34 countries and regions and has trained more than 2,300 professionals in agriculture and forestry with an international perspective. Duan expressed his hope that the forum would provide an opportunity to deepen substantive engagement with partners worldwide, explore innovative approaches to international cooperation in education, and contribute BUA's expertise to agricultural development and educational innovation around the world.

Wu Yan, vice president of the university, delivered a keynote presentation titled Exploration and Practice of International Talent Cultivation at BUA. She reviewed the university's achievements in international education, examined the opportunities and challenges ahead, and outlined priorities for the next phase of its international talent development initiatives.

The forum also saw two major milestones in international cooperation. The Joint Research Center on Agricultural Intellectual Property between Beijing University of Agriculture and Kutafin Moscow State Law University was officially inaugurated, and BUA and the University of Turin signed an agreement on the joint establishment of an Animal Science Laboratory. These initiatives will strengthen the university's international research partnerships and create new opportunities for cross-border collaboration and innovation in agriculture.

The forum featured 10 thematic sessions addressing such topics as the development of high-level international talent, Sino-foreign cooperative education, industry-education integration, and international research collaboration. Representatives from the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education, along with experts from universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, Uruguay, Italy and other countries, shared insights from their respective institutions and engaged in in-depth discussions. Their contributions offered practical recommendations for advancing high-quality international cooperation in agricultural and forestry education.

Held as part of the academic program marking BUA's 70th anniversary, the forum showcased the university's achievements in international engagement and opened new opportunities for deeper global cooperation. BUA will continue to expand its international partnerships and strengthen its platforms for collaboration, with a focus on educating a new generation of agricultural professionals who understand and are committed to agriculture, have a strong sense of responsibility to their country, possess a global outlook, and are equipped to work effectively across cultures. Through these efforts, the university will continue working toward its goal of becoming a leading applied university in China with international recognition and distinctive strengths in urban agriculture and forestry.
