On September 22, BUA held the Opening Ceremony of BUA-TU Graduate Exchange Program. Professor Laura Gasco from the University of Turin (TU), also Chair of the Insects Branch of the European Association for Animal Production, Zhao Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of BUA, and Wu Yan, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of BUA, were present at the ceremony. Also, five experts and scholars as well as 12 graduate representatives from TU participated in the event.

In his speech, Zhao Feng extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students from TU. He outlined BUA's history, as well as achievements made in recent years in terms of talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, social services, and international exchange and cooperation. Zhao noted that the two universities enjoy a solid foundation for cooperation. He further expressed hope that the two sides will take advantage of this program to deepen practical cooperation on talent cultivation, scientific research, and translation of outcomes, in a bid to advance the high-quality development of both universities' undertakings, jointly build a bridge of friendship and a platform of dialogue for Chinese and Italian youths, and contribute the wisdom and strength of university teachers and students to global agricultural sustainability.

In her speech, Professor Laura Gasco fully affirmed BUA's strength in education. She pointed out that the program aims to promote knowledge sharing and innovation in the fields of animal science and agricultural technology, and provide a platform for the teachers and students of the two universities to learn from each other and grow together. She also expressed expectations that the two universities will continue to advance cooperation in all aspects and fields, so as to make new contribution to the tackling of emerging agricultural challenges across the globe.

Wu Yan noted that this program serves as an important way to promote cross-cultural exchange and enhance understanding and friendship. She hoped that while improving their professional knowledge, the students will also immerse themselves into the richness of Chinese culture and become envoys of friendship between China and Italy.

It is learned that BUA's cooperation with TU on student exchange started in 2009, and has produced fruitful results so far. In the upcoming exchange, 12 graduates from TU will have a one-week study tour at BUA, focusing on topics such as animal science, agricultural technology, and cross-cultural communication.

The two universities engaged in thorough exchanges and reached a consensus on the comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in animal science and related areas. Both sides promised efforts to explore the establishment of a closer partnership in scientific research, faculty exchanges, and cultivation of high-level talents, so as to jointly build a globally influential hub for scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation in the agricultural field.
