On November 1, a team from Saint Petersburg University of Management and Economics, consisting of President Oleg Smeshko and Georgii Varlamov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, paid a visit to BUA. They were warmly welcomed by Duan Liusheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BUA. Both sides held talks on how to advance cooperation on education.
Duan Liusheng introduced BUA's distinctive disciplines, scientific research and international cooperation and exchanges in detail. He said, "BUA is taking solid efforts to drive the 'BUA's Global Strategic Partnership Program', and accelerate the building of BUA towards a domestically first-class and internationally renowned high-level applied university with urban agriculture and forestry characteristics." He expressed hope that both universities will pursue in-depth cooperation at multiple levels in terms of talent cultivation, academic research and cultural exchanges, contributing to higher education and scientific & technological innovation and development in both China and Russia.
Oleg Smeshko briefed the history, educational system and academic features of Saint Petersburg University of Management and Economics. He said that BUA has rich experience in running international cooperative education programs, and expressed wish that both universities will engage in pragmatic cooperation in areas like joint education programs, teacher and student exchanges, and scientific research.
Liu Fang, Dean of the College of Economics and Management, and Han Fang, Dean of the College of Humanities and Urban-Rural Development, respectively outlined the educational features, purpose of talent cultivation, international cooperation and exchanges, as well as the areas of cooperation with Saint Petersburg University of Management and Economics. Participants had in-depth exchanges on the detailed mode of further cooperation, and reached a preliminary intent on signing a cooperation framework agreement.
During the trip, the team also visited the Agricultural Product Converging Media Talent Training Center of the College of Economics and Management, gaining insights about BUA’s interdisciplinary applied talent training mechanism and advancement of relevant disciplines.
