A Deal was inked to Build Beijing Guide Dog Training Base

On October 31, the signing ceremony for the joint establishment of Beijing Guide Dog Training Base among Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and BUA took place at BUA. Present at the ceremony were Lu Xiaoguang, Party Group Secretary and President of Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Zhang Yaotian, member of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Hou Yulan, President of Beijing Foundation for Disabled Persons, as well as Zhao Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of BUA, and Duan Liusheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BUA.

Dong Lianmin, Vice President of Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Zhang Yaotian, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Zhang Jingbai, Vice President of BUA, signed the agreement on behalf of respective organizations. The three sides will work to advance the in-depth cooperation on the construction of Beijing Guide Dog Training Base; strengthen industry-university-research institute collaboration; and carry out publicity of the laws, regulations, policies and culture about guide dogs, scientific research on guide dog services, and the local standard formulation and public welfare fund-raising for guide dog training management and services by leveraging respective strengths. Their aim is to build a domestically known guide dog training base that integrates scientific research, breeding, training, exhibition and exchanges with the characteristics of China and Beijing, and thus contribute greater to promoting the high-quality development of the cause of persons with disabilities in Beijing.

Lu Xiaoguang presented a Letter of Appointment to Ms. Xu Chunni, a hostess of BTV, appointing her as the “Ambassador of Beijing Public Welfare Guide Dog Growth Program”. He also called on more caring businesses and persons to join the team for helping guide dogs grow and support the high-quality and sustainable development of the guide dog sector.

Chen Wu, Chief Expert of Beijing Guide Dog Training Base and Professor of the Animal Science and Technology College of BUA, detailed the pre-construction preparation, plans and outlook of Beijing Guide Dog Training Base in terms of trainer team building, guide dog breeding and training, sci-tech center planning, and deep integration of teaching and scientific research.

Representatives of the three parties concerned made a field trip to Beijing Guide Dog Training Center, and held in-depth exchanges on cooperation details. Representatives from Beijing Foundation for Disabled Persons and other public institutions and businesses reached a preliminary intent with the guide dog training base on donation matters.

Heads of relevant departments of Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and BUA and representatives of BUA’s teachers and students attended the signing ceremony.
