The Academic Forum on Urban Agriculture, Forestry, Ecological Environment and Plant Health and the 2024 MARA Annual Academic Meeting of the Key Laboratories of North China Urban Agriculture were held at the BUA on 13 October. Wang Yuanchao, Vice President of Nanjing Agricultural University, and Zhang Deqiang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of BUA, as well as more than 100 experts and scholars from domestic and foreign universities and research institutes participated in the meeting.

In his speech, Zhang Deqiang pointed out that the construction of urban agricultural and forestry ecological environment and the development of urban modern agriculture have become an important part of promoting the sustainable development of large cities and improving the quality of life of residents. Accelerating the development of urban modern agriculture will give strong impetus to China's agricultural and rural modernization and is an important way to achieve comprehensive rural revitalization. This forum brings together top scholars and industry elites in related fields at home and abroad to discuss cutting-edge topics such as the construction and optimization of urban agricultural and forestry ecosystems, green prevention and control of plant diseases and pests, and innovative paths for biodiversity conservation. It is hoped that participants will have in-depth exchanges and provide new ideas and solutions to address the current challenges facing urban agricultural and forestry ecological environment and plant health.

Professor Wang Yuanchao delivered a presentation titled "Occurrence and Green Control of Soybean Diseases and Pests in China", in which he elaborated on the current situation of soybean diseases and pests in China, the research and development of green control technologies for soybean root rot, the pathogenic mechanism of soybean Phytophthora and resistance remodeling. Professor Mark Richard McNeil of AgResearch, New Zealand, Professor Ida Bagus Andika of Northwest A&F University, Researcher Yuan Huizhu of the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Researcher Liu Zhenxing of the Institute of Apicultural Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Researcher Du Lianfeng of the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Professor Zhu Xinping of Beijing University of Agriculture, Dr. Chen Yongpan and other experts and scholars from many agricultural universities and research institutes gave academic reports focusing on research results in the fields of urban agricultural and forestry ecological environment protection and plant health, and had in-depth exchanges and discussions with the participants, and sharing their work results and valuable experiences.
