Recently, Professor Jiang Linshu’s team from the Animal Science and Technology College ofBUA has made important progress in research on key technologies related to the recycling of livestock and poultry manureas well as carbon sequestration and emission reduction in agriculture, and has published two important papers in theScience of the Total Environment (CAS Zone I, IF=8.2), an authoritative journal in the field of environmental science.
The paper “Harnessing meta-omics to unveil and mitigate methane emissions in ruminants: Integrative approaches and future directions”, published by Associate Professor Zhao Yuchao and Master student Tan Jian from the Animal Science and Technology College as co-first author and by Jiang Linshu as the corresponding author, explores cutting-edge research that uses omics techniques to reveal the mechanisms of methane emissions from ruminants and proposes mitigation strategies. This review, by integrating a variety of omics techniques, provides new ideas and methods for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from animal husbandry and coping with global climate change.
In another paper entitled “Metagenomic insights into the mechanistic differences of plant polyphenols and nitrocompounds in reducing methane emissions using the rumen simulation technique”, published by Tan Jian as the first author and Zhao Yuchao and Jiang Linshu as the co-corresponding authors, the action mechanisms by which plant polyphenols and nitrocompounds reduce methane emissions in ruminants are explored. In this study, the in vitro simulated rumen fermentation technique was employed to reveal the specific action path by which different additives reduce rumen methane emissions from the perspective of microbiome, providing a scientific basis for green production in animal husbandry.
In addition, Jiang Linshu has actively engaged in interdisciplinary cooperation and exchanges, worked closely with Professor Li Yanxia’s team from Beijing Normal University, and made new research progress in the treatment of hazardous wastes from livestock and poultry breeding. Jiang Linshu, as a co-corresponding author, has published a paper entitled “Plastic film from the source of anaerobic digestion: Surface degradation, biofilm and UV response characteristics” in theJournal of Hazardous Materials (CAS Zone I, IF=12.2). In this study, the surface degradation, biofilm formation, and UV response characteristics of the plastic films produced during the anaerobic digestion of livestock and poultry manure were analyzed in depth, providing a new perspective and solution for the control and recycling of plastic pollutants. This is also the third research paper jointly published by the twoprofessors in theJournal of Hazardous Materials.
A series of scientific research results by Jiang Linshu’s team have exhibited the strength ofBUA in the field of scientific and technological innovation in animal husbandry, contributing wisdom and strength to the sustainable development of animal husbandry in our country and in the world. Under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of the University, the team will deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, adhere to theAction Plan for Boosting High-quality Development with Scientific and Technological Innovation, focus on the theme of “stressing the implementation of work to promote high-quality development”, and continue to produce landmark scientific and technological innovation achievements, thereby making new and greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a first-class, internationally-renowned, high-level applied university with urban agriculture and forestry characteristics.
