On the afternoon of October 20, a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir Dr. Hjh Siti Noor Linda Bt Hj Taib and Tay Meng Guan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, visited Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) for a ceremony to present supervisor appointment letters. Representatives from the UNIMAS Representative Office in China also attended the event. BUA officials and faculty representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Science and Technology Office, and relevant colleges attended the ceremony.

Sun Xi, deputy director (in charge) of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, introduced the participants and delivered a welcome address. She noted that the visit by the UNIMAS delegation, coinciding with BUA's 70th anniversary, further enriched the university's series of academic activities celebrating the anniversary. The two universities signed a memorandum of understanding in May 2024 and have since maintained practical exchanges on sustainable agriculture through faculty and student visits and academic seminars. Their cooperation has gradually moved from a shared framework and mutual understanding toward concrete implementation. The two universities have complementary academic strengths and broad potential for collaboration in sustainable agricultural development and biodiversity conservation. The appointment of seven BUA faculty members as mentors for master's and undergraduate students marks an important outcome of the two universities' efforts to jointly develop faculty resources and cultivate talent. Sun expressed the hope that the newly appointed mentors would fulfill their responsibilities, serve as bridges between the two universities, promote two-way mobility of faculty and students, and contribute to exchanges in agricultural and forestry higher education between China and Malaysia.

Prof. Ir Dr. Hjh Siti Noor Linda Bt Hj Taib thanked BUA for hosting the delegation and spoke highly of the solid foundation for cooperation between the two universities. She said that the mentor appointments would provide a new opportunity to further deepen faculty and student exchanges, jointly develop research platforms, and expand cooperation in talent cultivation.

The event marked a substantive breakthrough in the joint education of undergraduate and master's students by the two universities. Moving forward, BUA and UNIMAS will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation across multiple fields, work together to enhance the internationalization of higher education, and open a new chapter in agricultural and forestry higher education cooperation between China and Malaysia.
