Athletics Competition of the 17th Beijing Municipal Games (University Group) & the 64th Capital University Students Athletics Games Kickstarted at BUA

On the morning of May 16, the Athletics Competition of the 17th Beijing Municipal Games (University Group) & the 64th Capital University Students Athletics Games was opened at the stadium of BUA. The event was hosted by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, and undertaken by the Federation of University Sports of Beijing and BUA. Relevant leaders from the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education of the Ministry of Education, the Joint Secretariat of the Student Sports Association of the Ministry of Education, China Student Sports Federation, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, Changping District Government, Federation of University Sports of Beijing, BUA and other universities and colleges attended the opening ceremony, along with representatives of teachers and students from universities and colleges across the capital. The opening ceremony was chaired by Wu Jie, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. The four-day event was expected to see over 1,600 athletes from 86 universities and colleges in the capital compete fiercely across 116 events.

The group calisthenics performance, presented by teachers and students of BUA as well as students from its affiliated primary school and kindergarten, became a highlight of the opening ceremony, ingeniously integrating farming culture, sportsmanship and the mission of the times. Chapter 1 "Song of Abundance" drew on farming scenes to eulogize the enduring vitality of the Chinese nation and demonstrate the sports philosophy that hard work leads to fruitful gains. Chapter 2 "Youth in Full Flame" featured dynamic group calisthenics, showcasing the spirit of striving and collaboration of young people in the capital. Chapter 3 "Green Hope" combined ecological conservation, scientific and technological innovation with BUA's academic strengths, manifesting the commitment of BUA to promoting agricultural and forestry development and serving rural revitalization. The performances, rich in profound symbolism, kicked off the competition at the athletics games.
