On September 25, BUA convened a meeting on international cooperation and exchanges to thoroughly learn and execute the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought, implement the spirits of the National Education Conference, and accelerate the building of BUA towards a domestically first-class and internationally renowned high-level applied university with urban agriculture and forestry characteristics. The meeting reviewed achievements, analyzed problems, studied the situation, and deployed future work, to drive the high-quality development of the University through high-quality international cooperation and exchanges. The meeting was chaired by Zhong Congsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party committee and saw presence of all university leaders.
In his speech, Zhao Feng, Secretary of the Party committee, fully affirmed the progress BUA has achieved in recent years in deepening international cooperation and exchanges and pushing forward BUA's Global Strategic Partnership Initiative. He pointed out that everyone should enhance their political stance, fully recognize the importance of deepening the high-level opening-up of education, and be aware that the high-level opening-up of education is a good example of implementing the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, a major force driving the building of a strong country through education and agriculture, and an effective move to propel BUA’s high-quality development. He called for BUA's efforts to closely align with China's strategies and development needs and Beijing’s requirements on opening up the education sector, step up reforms and innovation of international cooperation and exchanges in the area of agriculture and forestry, gradually from a pattern of international cooperation and exchanges in all aspects and at deeper levels, and foster more high-caliber and interdisciplinary applied talents with a deep love for the country and a global vision, so as to boost BUA’s international influence and competitiveness, and elevate the high-quality development of BUA to new heights.
Zhao Feng highlighted the need to uphold Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought, thoroughly learn and implement the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the National Education Conference, comprehensively strengthen Party’s leadership over foreign affairs, and actively engage in the building of Beijing towards an international exchange center and a talent hub. Meanwhile, efforts should be made to further advance the implementation of the BUA's Global Strategic Partnership Initiative, continuously optimize the mechanism for foreign affairs-related work, enhance teachers’ global competence and teaching capability, and strengthen the building of a professional team. He pointed out the School must drive the high-quality development of and break new ground for international cooperation and exchanges with a firmer resolve, a more open mind and more effective moves, so as to provide strong support for building BUA into a domestically first-class and internationally renowned high-level applied university with urban agriculture and forestry characteristics, and make great contribution to building China into a powerful country and achieving national rejuvenation.

Wu Yan, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of BUA, delivered a report on international cooperation and exchanges on behalf of the University. She noted, under the strong leadership of BUA’s Party Committee, international cooperation and exchanges have advanced steadily and made progress. To support national strategies, Beijing’s development in the new era, higher education on agriculture and forestry and BUA’s high-quality development, all-out efforts should be made to drive international cooperation and exchanges for new breakthroughs. She underscored that the global "friend circle" should be expanded and the global partner network should be established at different levels and by different types; pragmatic cooperation should be pursued to create a cluster of disciplines with international urban agriculture and forestry characteristics, leading the overall improvement of the distinctive disciplines and emerging inter-disciplines related to the Belt and Road Initiative; frontier science should be highlighted to boost the capacity in international cooperation and exchanges on technology, and foster a team that resembles a vanguard and pace-setter in the international ecosystem of openness and innovation; new models should be established to enhance BUA’s international competitiveness in talent cultivation and build a more international faculty team; and mechanisms should be improved to create a new pattern for international cooperation and exchanges at multiple levels and in a wider range of areas.
The meeting also witnessed the launch of BUA's newly revised website. The faculty and staff representatives of functional departments and secondary schools delivered speeches at the meeting.
All division-level officials, discipline heads, department directors, foreign affairs personnel and relevant teacher representatives attended the meeting.
