The Launching Ceremony of “Education to Support the Construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun & Thematic Social Practice of Capital College Students" was held in Pinggu District on the morning of July 4.Yu Yingjie, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Education Working Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech. Leaders from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Education Working Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Education Commission, Pinggu District and other units attended the event. The event was hosted by Li Junfeng, Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of the Municipal Party Committee in charge of daily work.Zhao Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee, Duan Liusheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BUA, and Zheng Pinshi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee attended the event.

Zhao Feng and leaders from Tsinghua University, China Agricultural University and other universities cheered for the construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun.Zhao Feng urged the teachers and students participating in the event of BUA to keep the instructions in mind and live up to the expectations, bravely shoulder the mission of strengthening and revitalizing agriculture, give full play to the advantages of the characteristics of disciplines and majors, receive education, develop talents, and strengthen skills in the big classroom of rural revitalization, and unleash their vitality and make achievements on the big stage of rural revitalization.

Anthony Beasley, distinguished professor of our school and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, introduced the practices and results of teachers and students in jointly supporting the construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun at Haidian District and effectively promoting rural revitalization.

After the launching ceremony, sub-forums on science and technology to support rural revitalization and culture to empower rural revitalization were held respectively.Duan Liusheng attended the sub-forum on how science and technology can help rural revitalization.The heads of relevant functional departments of BUA and teachers of the college signed the Science and Technology Service Action Plan and the Rural Revitalization Station Co-construction Agreement with the Pinggu District Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Yukou Town People's Government respectively, to further promote and implement the Campus Strategic Cooperation Agreement; Associate Professor Ma Liang of the School of Landscape Architecture delivered a keynote speech at the sub-forum on culture empowering rural revitalization.

A series of policies to support employment and entrepreneurship of university teachers and students, as well as the "Work Plan for Gathering the Capital's Educational Resources to Promote the Construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun" were released at the event. The relevant work arrangements for the "New Talents of the Times, Strengthening the Country" and "Thousands of People and Hundreds of Villages" summer social practice activities were deployed. The leaders at the event presented flags to the representatives of the practice groups.

In recent years, as an agricultural and forestry university in the capital, BUA has, under the strong leadership of the Party Committee, always adhered to the fundamental principle of cultivating morality and educating people, and taken strengthening agriculture as its mission. It actively integrated itself into the construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun program, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Pinggu District, and formulated a "Three-Year Action Plan for Comprehensive Cooperation". Based on the key technologies of the "Ecological Bridge" project, BUA built an interdisciplinary team, and developed peach branch organic fertilizer to help Pinggu develop green circular agriculture. The school supported and strengthened geographical indication products, and promoted the deep integration of production, education, research and application. It planned and built sites for front-line promotion, and explored effective ways to promote integration of education, science and technology, and talents. Besides, BUA continued to open and teach the "big ideological and political course" of rural revitalization, and vigorously cultivated new talents who know and love agriculture.This summer, BUA will send more than 50 teams and more than 400 teachers and students to carry out social practice activities such as public science education, social surveys, technical training and promotion, and new variety breeding demonstration in Pinggu District. In the practice of serving rural revitalization, they will cultivate passion for agriculture and develop the ability to promote agriculture. They will write their papers on the land of capital and condense the results in the farmers' harvests, and contribute "BUA wisdom" and "BUA strength" to the construction of Agricultural Zhongguancun and the comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization in the capital, and first realization of agricultural and rural modernization.
