International Cooperation and Exchange Office

In 2024, we thoroughly studied and implemented the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the National Education Conference, improved the work of internationalization, optimized the global strategic arrangements, deepened the internationalization model for talent training, strengthened management and services in foreign affairs, and steadily promoted the "BUA Global Strategic Partnership Program", to continuously expand the "circle of friends" for international cooperation.

Improving the work of internationalization and drawing a blueprint for international cooperation

Closely centering on the goals set at the Fourth Party Congress of the University, we carefully develop the strategic plan for international cooperation and exchanges. To meet our goals in discipline construction, scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation, we held the Conference for International Cooperation and Exchange, where the "BUA Global Strategic Partnership Program" and a series of internationalization promotion policies were formally issued and implemented, opening a new chapter in the high-quality development of the school's international cooperation and exchanges.

We included international cooperation in the performance review system, and gradually built a multi-level, networked, all-round internationalized work structure with the University as the leader, the departments as the main body, the disciplines as the foundation, the teachers and students as the protagonists, and the administrative offices as the supporters.

Optimizing the global strategic arrangements to increase our international reputation and influence

We actively communicated with high-level overseas universities and research institutions, continuously optimized the strategic arrangements, expanded the realms for cooperation, and deepened pragmatic cooperation.

In 2024, a total of 24 new cooperation agreements were signed with 14 high-level universities and research institutions in 8 countries, of which 36% were the top 500 in the world QS rankings; 12 official delegations with 30 people were organized to visit foreign universities and research institutions for cooperation negotiations and diversified academic exchanges; 35 delegations with 72 people from 20 countries and regions were received to visit and exchange with the school, discuss cooperation intentions, and hold academic lectures, laying a solid foundation for the school's international development.

The joint construction of an international research center with the ELDC and Moscow State University of Law in Russia has filled the gap in the school's international cooperation platform in this field and achieved a historic breakthrough from scratch.

The "Study at the BUA" program was advanced in an orderly manner, and the exchange student program at Moscow State University of Law in Russia was implemented smoothly. Nine international students have started their wonderful school life at the BUA. One of the students was awarded the "Beijing International Friendship Ambassador" by the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office and represented the school in the immersive national conditions education practice course for international students in China, which was created for the first time by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. After six months of meticulous design and production, the school's new English official homepage was successfully launched, with an average monthly visitors of over 4,500, becoming a window for displaying the university's international image.

Internationalizing talent training to build our talents with international vision

We enhanced the internationalization capabilities of the faculty, built a diversified international cooperation platform, and successfully obtained approval as a member university in the agricultural field of the "China-Arab Universities 10+10 Cooperation Program". We helped college teachers to jointly apply for international cooperation projects with high-level overseas universities and research institutions such as the VetAgro Sup, the University of Pisa in Italy, the University of Milan, and Tanta University in Egypt. Three teachers have been approved for international cooperation and exchange research projects from the Beijing Education Association for International Exchange.

We fully implemented national projects such as the China Scholarship Council's special project on cultivating rural revitalization talents, and three teachers received national funding to go on visiting studies at the University of Alberta in Canada, Lincoln University in New Zealand, and the University of Turin in Italy. We deeply promoted the teacher development services of the Ministry of Education's innovative practice project on cultivating high-level international talents, and sent more than 100 teachers to participate in the two special programs of improving teachers' internationalization capabilities and cultivating international competence of young professors. All of these comprehensively enhance our teachers' internationalization capabilities and levels.

We vigorously developed overseas study and exchange programs for students to promote international exchange. Throughout the year, we sent a total of 136 students to go abroad for exchanges through various platform projects, an increase of 11% over the last year.

More than 550 people participated in online international courses and lectures such as "Career Planning for International Civil Servants", "Academic Frontier Experts Talk", "Global Governance", and "PBL Interdisciplinary Courses". We helped nearly a hundred students to apply for various internship and volunteer positions in the high-level international talent training programs. One student was selected to intern at the China International Poverty Reduction Center, an international organization, achieving a new breakthrough for the BUA students' internships in international organizations.

Strengthening management and services to build a high-quality foreign affairs team

We standardized the employment of foreign teachers, established a stable channel for hiring foreign teachers, and enhanced foreign teachers' sense of belonging and identity. We strengthened the pre-departure education for teachers and students going abroad, and carried out more than 20 comprehensive and in-depth educational activities for visiting teachers and students going abroad. We accurately updated the data of graduates and new students, and built a solid security network for overseas teachers and students. We determined the organizational structure, division of responsibilities, and key tasks of the secondary colleges in carrying out foreign affairs work, and 111 full-time teachers with overseas study and visiting backgrounds have been hired as the school's international affairs specialists to assist in carrying out international cooperation and exchange. We organized various foreign affairs management and business training and exchange activities, constantly updated the knowledge structure to improve professional skills and comprehensive quality. We built a foreign affair work team with firm political beliefs, superb business skills, good working style and strict discipline, to effectively lead the steady progress of the school's internationalization process.

In 2025, the school will adhere to the Xi Jinping diplomatic thought, thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the National Education Conference, vigorously promote the "BUA Global Strategic Partnership Program", implement the "Internationalization of Talent Training" in depth, and solidly carry out the "Foreign Affairs Service Efficiency  Improvement Action". We will focus on optimizing the "Quality Improvement of Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Projects", continue to expand the "circle of friends" for international cooperation, and strive to create a new situation for international cooperation and exchanges, to provide strong support for building a domestically first-class and internationally renowned high-level applied university with urban agriculture and forestry characteristics.
