Introduction
Since its establishment in 2003, the College of International Education of Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) has all along been committed to international cooperation in higher education, striving to explore and utilize high-quality educational resources from abroad. In the context of growing economic globalization, the college has successfully created a higher education environment and platform for international talent cultivation by keeping pace with global higher education development and advocating cross-cultural education. Currently, the college has established various forms of cooperation with institutions of higher learning in many countries such as the UK, Australia, and the US. With the approval of Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the competent national authority, the College of International Education of BUA has launched "3+1" Sino-foreign cooperative education programs with two universities abroad in three academic programs.
In 2003, BUA and Haper Adams University launched cooperative undergraduate education in two programs, namely International Economics and Trade (International Business Management), and Food Science and Engineering (Food Quality and Retail Management). This cooperative education program adopts the teaching system and quality assurance system of Harper Adams University, and offers English-taught courses. After studying in China for three years and then in the UK for the fourth year, students who have completed their study under this program will receive a graduation certificate and a bachelor's degree certificate from BUA, as well as a bachelor's degree certificate from Harper Adams University. As at the end of 2022, the program saw 16 classes of 1,057 graduates, of which 792 pursued master's degrees immediately upon their graduation, accounting for 74.8% of the total.
In June 2012, BUA and Edith Cowan University launched cooperative undergraduate education in the program of Agricultural Resources and Environment (Environmental Management). The program adopts a "3+1" educational model, which requires students to study in China for three years and then in Australia for the fourth year. Those who have completed their study under this program will receive a graduation certificate and a bachelor's degree certificate from BUA, as well as a bachelor's degree certificate from Edith Cowan University. As at the end of 2022, the program saw six classes of 203 graduates, of which 152 pursued master's degrees immediately upon their graduation, accounting for 75% of the total.
After years of practice in Sino-foreign cooperative education, the College of International Education of BUA has been fully aligned with international standards in terms of educational philosophy, educational model, teaching system and content, teaching management, and faculty. Moreover, the college has developed a domestic teaching team of full-time and part-time Chinese and foreign teachers who have received education abroad, are proficient in English teaching and familiar with foreign teaching models and disciplinary development. Throughout the teaching process, the college remains committed to teaching quality as the lifeline of school running and adopts a student-centered approach. By offering international education, the college strives to enable students to gain an edge in the international competition, while acquiring corresponding knowledge and skills. At present, the cooperative education programs of the College of International Education have attracted wide attention from all walks of life, and have produced a positive impact on school running and good social reputation.
